Sample project - Design of the external shape and the fixation system for a sucker
   
   
Main objectives: Create a new design for the external shape and the fixation system of the sucker to improve the product look. These modifications on the design have to consider the required inversions on the production process.

Planning and general structure of the project: execution phases.

First phase: Studies of the different mechanical configurations to aply the force on the sucker to fix it to the smooth surfice were done. The implemented system should fit with the global product shape to achieve a better looking. To improve the product usability, Shadowing and Role Playing methods are implemented to analyze the product in their use environment.

Second phase: Adaptation in the external design of the mechanical fixation system. Mechanical simulation of the cam under stress and optimization of the design to improve the deformations were done. The external design is modified to fit with the cam, regarding the conditions described before. When the general shape of the product agrees with the customers wishes, all the quotes are fixed to define completely the design.

Third phase: Mould design for the plastic injection. The whole fabrication and montage process are described. For the inversion reduction is important to analyze, if the present moulds are profitably to fabricate the new ones. Fabrication planes and the fabrication process description are included in the final technical report.
